Our Roots

Vertigo. Inspired through long nights in Val d’Isere’s Après-Ski world. Chilled resort-kit designed to unwind in sun-soaked ski bars. Our clothing can be traced back to pianist Dom Hartley who found time to define the brand in Bladon Lines chalets and bars in 1993, inspired between boozy renditions of Piano Man and American Pie.

Vertigo knitwear was one of the first to impregnate Irish woollen fabrics with Nikwax waterproof technology with the the chunky Vertigo sweater, selling out within weeks. Dom went on to form the band 29 Fingers, which to-this-day is one of the biggest party bands in the UK, fresh back from recent tours of the Alps - the band’s birthplace.

Cut to our relaunch in 2022: we’re back. Overseen by Elliot Hartley, Dom’s son, Vertigo sets out to inspire a new generation who can share in Vertigo’s friendship as much as our lifelong friends from our 1990’s seasons.
